Large-scale, forward-thinking projects can drive the growth of Rutgers while creating positive change in society. These are the Big Ideas that will enable Rutgers to fulfill its mission.
With its powerful interdisciplinary approach, this initiative harnesses the broad knowledge of Rutgers’ diverse community by spurring collaboration among faculty, staff, and bold supporters.
Now, Rutgers will partner with donors and the community to secure private support for the Big Ideas best poised to build a stronger Rutgers and transform society.
In September 2018, Rutgers issued a call for Big Ideas proposals to faculty and staff universitywide. The result: more than 200 fascinating submissions from brilliant thinkers, creators, and disruptors.
Through a multilevel selection process, Rutgers arrived at a shorter list of 40 visionary ideas, and on October 4, 2019, Rutgers’ closest friends and supporters gathered at the Big Ideas Symposium to learn firsthand about these innovative projects. Highlights from the event are captured in a photo gallery
